Matured in a combination of 25% new French oak and 3-4 year old barriques for 12 months. Opaque black dark red colour with a deep dark crimson red black tinged hue. Aromas of blackberries, liquorice and ripe dark cherries are followed by some earthy vanillin cedar and faint pepper end notes. Full bodied the palate is filled with lavish aniseed flavours alongside some black cherries, smoky vanillin cedar and blackpepper with some heat on the dryish finish. Solid but fine grained tannins. Aftertaste of aniseed, ripe black cherries, toasty cedar and pepper.
