Wine Spectator 93 - Dense and dusty tannins are tightly knit with flavors of raspberry confit, sandalwood, bresaola and fennel in this aromatic red. The tarry underpinning gains momentum on the firm, focused finish. A burly youngster that needs time in the cellar to show its full range. Best from 2019 through 2026.
Gilbert & Gaillard 92 - Dark garnet, still in its youth. Racy nose of plum, fig, liquorice, mild spice and a vanilla note. Dense, concentrated, fine-grained palate supported by a substantial structure. The mid-palate veers towards vegetal presence. An ambitious, still adolescent wine.
This rich Sagrantino is a great wine to be paired with roasted or grilled lamb and other meats. Black truffles, game and aged cheeses are also lovely partners to match the tannins and body shown in the bottle.
