Wine Enthusiast 91 - This opens with aromas of underbrush, scorched soil, leather, iris and a balsamic note. The ripe, full-bodied palate offers juicy raspberry, licorice, mature black cherry and a hint of tobacco alongside firm, velvety tannins. Drink 2018–2027.
Clear, pale intensity, ruby color. Youthful, expressive nose with medium(+) intensity. Rather fruity nose (for being a Barolo) with lots of dark cherry, black raspberry, plum skin, tar, fresh cut herbs and rose petal. With time in the glass it develops more earthy notes of forest floor, mushroom and cocoa. Really open and approachable on the palate. Bone dry, medium(+) acidity, medium(+) but smooth tannins and medium(+) body. Lots of sappy dark berries, forest floor, rose petal and spice box. Fresh and silky mouthfeel. Medium(+) intensity of flavors. Soft and approachable in style but with the sense of grape and place intact. Really enjoyable today but has potential for further aging.
