Several important critics have rated this Columbia Valley wine highly: Wine Enthusiast gave the 2013 vintage a score of 90; Wine & Spirits Magazine gave the 2012 vintage a score of 91; Wine Spectator gave the 2012 vintage a score of 90.
First made in 2012, the entry level 2014 Cuvee Frangin is the result of the estate focus on quality, where they cut the yields for all of their top cuvees back by 30%; all of that newly declassified juice goes into this cuvee. A great introduction into the quality of the estate, with lots of ripe, sexy black fruits, brambly herbs and chocolate, it’s medium to full-bodied, has good freshness, and shows hints of earth and truffle with time in the glass. It will keep through 2024 easily, although there’s absolutely no need to delay gratification either.
Blend: 36% Merlot, 23% Cabernet Sauvignon, 26% Syrah and 15% Petit Verdot
