Bosquet des Papes Châteauneuf-du-Pape Rouge ‘Cuvée Chante le Merle’ 2015
Wine Cellar Insider 95 - Sexy stuff here, with its silky, elegantly textured fruit. Light on its feet, due to the freshness, full bodied and concentrated due to all the ripe, juicy fruit and with a spicy, fruity, clean finish that feels and tastes great. The wine was made using 86% old vine Grenache, 7% Syrah and 7% Mourvedre.
Wine Advocate - The old vine cuvée is the 2015 Châteauneuf du Pape Chante Le Merle Vieilles Vignes and is a non-destemmed blend of 90% Grenache and 5% each of Syrah and Mourvèdre. Aged in foudre and demi-muids, it offers textbook notes of black raspberries, kirsch, garrigue, pepper and leafy herbs, as well as full-bodied richness, ripe, polished tannin and a great finish. I’ve found this cuvée to be a touch rustic in the past, but recent vintages show another level of purity, elegance and finesse.
Appearance : deep ruby red in colour
Nose: very expressive and aromatic bouquet showing aromas of ripe red fruits, liquorice , sweet oak and spices
Palate: full bodied and concentrated, very rich and complex with sweet firm tannins, moderate acidity ; long persistent finish.
