Critical Acclaim

Winemakers Daryl and Lisa Groom named their Colby Red wine after their son Colby, who was born with congenital heart disease and underwent heart surgeries. Inspired by his ordeal, Colby wanted to do something to raise money for heart research, so “no kid would have to go through what he went through”. He asked his Dad, notable winemaker Daryl Groom, if they could create a wine together and donate the proceeds to heart research and charities. That wine is Colby Red, a delicious red wine with a purpose – raising funds for cardiac research. Colby Red shows how the Groom family’s passion for winemaking and viticulture has given back to secure for others, the same level of help and support Colby received. Each sold bottle supports charities that promote heart health.
The 2010 vintage was awarded Silver from the American Wine Society.

Colby Red wine, a unique blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Petite Sirah and Zinfandel, is a deep crimson color. Aromas of ripe red cherries, raspberries and star anise jump from the glass. The wine is generous on the palate with a rich mouthfeel complemented by well-integrated tannins and bold flavors of red berry and hints of clove spice. The finish is smooth with a slight toasty, vanillin character which lingers and is achieved from oak aging. Easy to drink and enjoy, this wine is a crowd pleaser.

Colby Red

I first tasted this wine at PF Changs restaurant. I loved it from the first sip. I was able to purchase it through Total Wines and More for a brief period of time. I'd been in search of it to purchase locally, but could not find it. I finally found it on Drink Dispatch and I have not been disappointed. I have filled my wine frig with it. It is my staple daily drinking wine. I just love it and being a Cardiology Nurse Practitioner, I could not be happier that it was made by a family with an amazing "heart" story.
This wine is sooooo smooth and delicious. I'm so glad I found it again and can drink it without fear of never finding it again. I highly suggest trying it.

Love

I love this wine! It's a blend. I had it at a wine tasting on a flight from Hong Kong to Chicago in Polaris first class. Cannot find it in any stored! It's so smooth!
