Critical Acclaim

James Suckling 92 - Spicy, cedary and minty with raspberries and blueberries. Medium to full body, firm and silky tannins and a juicy finish. Smoke and tar at the end. Structured. Drink after 2022.

Burghound.com 91 - A much less expressive and brooding nose grudgingly reveals wild dark berries, earth, forest floor and plenty of sauvage character. The rich and reasonably dense medium weight flavors possess a lovely sense of vibrancy, all wrapped in a lightly stony, serious and built-to-age finale. This too is a quality villages level effort.
Barrel Sample: 89-91

Wine Advocate 91 - Aromas of sweet grilled meats, spicy cassis, cherries and rich soil tones introduce the 2017 Gevrey-Chambertin Village, a medium to full-bodied, ample and impressively layered wine that includes some premier cru juice. With good depth and length, it's a decided success at the communal level this year.
Barrel Sample: 89-91

Wine Spectator 91 - This red is marked by a laser of cherry and currant flavors, with grace notes of earth, iron and tobacco. The texture is both supple and firm, with a long finish of cherry, earth and spice accents. Best from 2021 through 2033.
