California’s answer to classic Chablis, the 2016 Hanzell Sebella Chardonnay induces an immediate feeling of contentment, followed by a rush of exhilarating flavors and an array of fresh nectarines, citrus blossom, warm pear, liquified stones and floral infused honey. The winery is a reference standard for producing Chardonnay and Pinot Noir with uncanny longevity and remarkable balance. For over fifty years, Hanzell Vineyards has been the home of great innovation and invention in winemaking. The 2016 exhibits an impeccable balance and striking purity which we’ve come to expect from Hanzell. Created from younger vines from their Estate Vineyard, the 2016 Sebella Chardonnay was fermented in stainless steel and aged in neutral French oak barrels, preserving the wine’s vibrant energy and focus. Irresistible upon release, Hanzell Chardonnays will cellar for years, unlocking new nuances and compelling qualities as they age.
Lifted floral aromas of orange blossom and honey suckle complement the pear, golden delicious apple, white peach, kumquat and pink grapefruit fruit aromas. The flavors on the palate echo the nose, with the addition of lemon zest, wet graphite and a slight tropical note. The entry on the palate is broad and rich, balanced by bright acidity.
