Les Volets (“The Shutters”) is a Pinot Noir from the Pays de la Haute Vallée de l ’ Aude in southwest France, near Carcassonne and Limoux. Interesting, this is the same area from which comes our super value French sparkling “Blanquette di Limoux”, called Sainte Hilaire. The Pinot Noir grapes are hand picked in this region that stays warm enough to ripen Pinot Noir but cool enough in the foothills of the Pyrenees to insure cool nights that insure a long growing season, allowing for full physiological ripeness. This is one of the very top values in our entire portfolio.
Darkly-stained diaphanous red with upfront aromas of freshly picked raspberries and an underlying savoury leesiness. Fleshy red fruits and jam continue to the palate and are met with structured tannins and acid - the foundations of a serious Pinot Noir.
