James Suckling 93 - Very pretty aromas of plum, peach and cedar follow through to a full body, dense center palate and layers of tannins. Structured wine. Excellent classic blend. Try in 2019.
Wine Spectator 89 - Fragrant, with rose, cherry, licorice and spice notes, accented by a hint of tar. Though elegant, this features a firm base of dusty tannins and ends balanced and earthy. Best from 2018 through 2030.
Wine Enthusiast - Balsamic herb, toast, oak, exotic spice and berry aromas emerge in the glass. The palate is still rather closed and austere showing oak, licorice and tart cherry alongside bracing tannins that leave an astringent finish. Give the tannins a few years to soften than drink before to capture the remaining fruit.
Brilliant garnet-red color, with warmer tinges developing over time. Unmistakable bouquet, very pleasant, intense yet ethereal, very persistent, at times spiced, with aromas of truffles, liquorice and dried flowers. Dry taste, with important, full tannins.
Best served at about 18° C in a large balloon wine glass. It is excellent with game and meat in general and pairs wonderfully with cheese, both fresh and aged.
