James Suckling 91 - Some candied red and black fruit suggesting hints of cloves and cinnamon on the nose and palate. Full-bodied and juicy with soft tannins and a flavorful finish. A little heavy-handed but I like it. Drink now.
Vinous 90 - Deep ruby. Powerful raspberry and cherry liqueur aromas, along with hints of candied flowers and allspice. Supple, appealingly sweet red and dark berry flavors show good depth and power while a spine of juicy acidity adds lift and energy. Smooth and fleshy in character, finishing sweet, seamless and very long, featuring resonating spiciness and sneaky tannins that add gentle grip.
Wine Spectator 87 - This solid red delivers ripe plum and boysenberry flavors, with notes of toast, licorice and loamy earth. Features firm tannins and just enough acidity to stay lively. Tempranillo. Drink now through 2022.
Wine Enthusiast 86 - Smoky, oaky aromas rest on top of basic berry scents, with hints of leather and animal as the wine breathes out. This feels tight and juicy in the mouth, with pulling tannins. Oaked-up black-fruit flavors end with spice notes and a hint of chocolate.
A hand-made wine created in the spirit of collaboration. Hand-harvested grapes are selected from the best vines in “Tierra de Castilla”, then passed on to the agile hands of our winemaker. The result is a carefully made wine: long slow fermentation is followed by gentile aging in French oak to create a balanced “tinto” with vanilla, spice, robust red fruit and a rich finish.
