Much like the air out at the Yorkville ranch, this wine is fresh and bright. With more acidity and focus on red fruit flavors than most Cabernet, this wine is sizable and will age for decades, but has a gorgeous, perfumed elegance that is accessible now.
Vinous 94 - Marietta's 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Game Trail is powerful, dark and quite savory. Smoke, tobacco, gravel, menthol, cedar and licorice all run through this bold, pungent mountain Cabernet. There is quite a bit of aromatic intensity to play off the blackberry fruit in this strapping young wine. Give it a few years in bottle for the tannins to soften.
Jeb Dunnuck 90 - The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Game Trail Estate Grown is all Cabernet Sauvignon from the Yorkville Highlands. Its deep ruby/plum color is followed by notes of red plums, blackberries, scorched earth, and graphite. It has good richness, a firm, focused texture, integrated acidity, and a classic style. Drink it over the coming 7-8 years or so, and it might keep even longer.
