Critical Acclaim

Wine Enthusiast 92 - Bright red berry, blue flower, chopped herb, menthol and cake spice aromas lift out of the glass. The bright, elegantly structured palate delivers juicy Morello cherry, raspberry jelly, white pepper, anise and a hint of game while fine-grained tannins provide polished support. Drink through 2022.

100% Roero Nebbiolo. Translucent, medium-dark ruby color bordering on raspberry towards the rim. Ripe, fragrant and varietally typical nose of sweet dark cherry, sour cherry, raspberry and some crushed forest berries with a delicate undertone of smoke. In the mouth the wine feels quite similar to many basic-level Barolos with medium-bodied palate, medium-to-moderate acidity and moderate tannins. Ripe, succulent and almost sweet flavors of dark cherries, raspberries, some tarry smoke, a little bitter spice and a hint of cocoa oak. The biggest difference in the wine compared to the ones on the other side of Tànaro river (ie. Barbaresco, Barolo) is the ripe, more fruit-forward character, that gives the wine almost off-dry feeling, even though the wine is sugar-wise completely dry. The finish has more pronounced and slightly coarse tannins with long and powerful flavors of ripe red and dark cherries, raspberries, stony minerality, some sweet red berries and a hint of chocolate.
