Decanter 96 - Pale orange/amber colour. Not the most expressive wine on the nose, but fine and delicate displaying both freshness and age. Similarly delicate in style on the palate – creamy complexity, long and pure on the finish with a fresh streak of citrus running throughout. Wonderfully refined and poised.
Wine Enthusiast 93 - A deliciously satisfying wood-aged Port. It has an intense fruitiness, with layers of acidity and oxidated notes. It's concentrated, yet shows lightness and poise.
Wine Advocate 92 - The NV 20 Year Old Tawny Port was bottled in 2016 with a long cork. On first taste, I liked this far more than the 1997 Colheita reviewed this issue (about the same age). This has a bit more weight, a bit more intensity of complex flavors, a hint of brandy and a bit more power.
Wine Spectator 90 - A refined and delicate tawny, with pure-tasting flavors of dried mango, cherry and blood orange, supported by fresh acidity. Pale in color, with luscious spicy notes that linger on the fresh finish.
Aged in small casks in the cellars at Vila Nova de Gaia, this is a sumptuous tawny port with intense aromas of dried apricots and crystallised fruit, alongside rich dried fruit and nutty flavours.
An old Tawny port is always a good match for cheeses and dense chocolate puddings, but you can also try serving it lightly chilled as an aperitif.
