Owen Roe "The Kilmore" Pinot Noir 2015
The 2014 vintage of Oregon Pinot Noir is a vintage for the ages! Our staff was blown away by the immediate approachableness of the 2014 Pinots. The 2014 “Kilmore” is consistently sourced from Lenne Vineyard and Merriman Vineyard contributing to a beautiful expression of the Yamhill Carlton AVA. Aromas of cherry compote and candied fruit jump out of the glass, followed by violets, marzipan and black licorice. The palate is brimming with fresh, ripe blackberries and a silky mid palate of dark chocolate with a mild toasty oak finish.
- Wine Enthusiast 92 - "Sourced from several vineyards within the AVA, this shows lightly peppery Bing cherries with streaks of sassafras, cola and dark chocolate. The wine gains amplitude and weight as it breathes open. The finish brings flavors of cherry pie and a hint of butter."
- Vinous / Antonio Galloni 91 - "Dark red. Pungent, floral- and spice-accented aromas of dark berries and incense are lifted by a smoky mineral quality. Sappy and broad on the palate, offering gently sweet blackberry and cherry cola flavors and a touch of peppery spices. The floral and smoke notes come back strong on the powerful finish, which clings with good tenacity and chewy, slow-mounting tannins. This brawny Pinot benefits greatly from aeration."
