Vinous 95 - The 2010 Barbaresco Sorì Paitin Vigne Vecchie hits the palate with fabulous depth and intensity. Savory herbs, smoke, tobacco, incense, menthol and licorice race out of the glass in an intense, structured Barbaresco loaded with class, energy and pure power. There is plenty to look forward to, once the tannins soften a bit. The 2010 has closed down pretty dramatically since the last time I tasted it, about a year ago. Readers will have to be patient. The 2010 spent a total of 30 months in cask.
Wine Advocate - The 2010 Barbaresco Sori’ Paitin Vecchie Vigne is endowed with tons of nobility and sheer class. Freshly cut flowers, savory herbs and the essence of dried roses are some of the many notes that emerge from this huge, dense Barbaresco. The 2010 is insanely rich and head spinning in its balance and pure pedigree. I can’t wait to see how the wine develops over the coming years. Anticipated maturity: 2020-2040. Range: 94-97
James Suckling 94 - A beautiful riserva with aromas of chocolate, dried fruit, rose petal and espresso. Very subtle. Palate is very refined and long. A joy to taste. Drink or hold.
Wine Spectator 90 - This red offers mature sweet cherry and floral notes, but also tar, leather, tobacco and underbrush flavors. The dry, chalky finish is long, with elements of sweet fruit for balance. Best from 2017 through 2026.
