Schild Estate Barossa Valley Shiraz 2014
Dark ruby, with purple, black hues. Open, aromatic red and dark berry fruit aromas combine alongside subtle glimpses of dark chocolate and controlled oak spice. The soft, deep red and black fruit notes seen together on the nose also show in abundance on the palate where they are accompanied by a fresh acid line and a super fine tannin frame. These ensure some real balance to the wine and a drinkability and moorishness so often found in Barossa Shiraz.
- Wine Enthusiast 90 - "Sometimes all that's required is a full-bodied, supple red to pair with dinner. And sometimes, the bottle exceeds expectations, like this one. Blackberry, cassis and hints of brown sugar and vanilla avoid getting too confectionary, framed by crisp acids and fine tannins on the finish. Drink now–2020."
- Vinous / Antonio Galloni 90 - "Opaque ruby. Smoke- and spice-accented aromas of ripe black and blue fruits, candied violet, licorice and mocha, with a subtle peppery nuance adding vivacity. Plush, broad and open-knit, offering sweet blueberry and cherry-vanilla flavors and a touch of bitter chocolate. The smoke and floral qualities repeat on a long, sappy finish framed by even tannins."
