Talley Chardonnay Rosemary's 2015
Vinous 94 - Limpid yellow. A powerfully scented bouquet evokes fresh melon, Meyer lemon, honey and white flowers, and a smoky mineral nuance builds as the wine stretches out. Sappy, concentrated and penetrating on the palate, offering vibrant, mineral-tinged orchard and citrus fruit flavors and hints of chamomile, brioche and iodine. The mineral element adds energizing lift and cut to the extremely long, juicy finish, which leaves behind a sexy floral note.
Wine Enthusiast 94 - Spectacular aromas of sea salt, dried lemon peels, seared mandarins, chamomile, lemongrass, kaffir lime and plumeria make the mouth water simply upon smelling this savory wine. The sip is loaded with tension and judicious acidity, and yet the flavors are soft, from lemon meringue to crisp pluot and vanilla dust.
Wine.com 92 - An impressive wine from one of my favorite California producers, the 2015 Talley Vineyards Rosemary's Vineyard Chardonnay offers an excellent combination of ripe apples, fragrant flowers, and oak accents in both its aromas and palate. The wine's exquisite finish wraps it all up into a fine and complex package. Pair it with panko-covered sautéed English sole.
Wine Advocate 92 - Charging out of the gate with intense pink grapefruit, lemongrass and ripe peach notes complemented by hints of brioche and ginger, the 2015 Chardonnay Estate Rosemary's Vineyard fills the palate with creamy stone fruit and citrus flavors, supported by a racy acid line and finishing with lingering savory notes.
Connoisseurs Guide 90 - Very much showing the richness and firm structure that are hallmarks of the 2015 Talley Chardonnays, this one from Rosemary’s Vineyard is a full-bodied working that exhibits fine fruity concentration along with a generous measure of oak. It smells of fresh apples, toast and cream and follows suit in the mouth where undisguised acidity makes an appearance, and, if arguably a touch cramped and hard at the finish just now, it has the right pieces in place to expand and unfold if allowed a year or two of additional cellar time.
The 2015 vintage of Rosemary’s Chardonnay is pale straw in appearance. On the nose, creamy notes of hazelnut and croissant are balanced by a hint of white flower. The palate is marked by a zesty acidity, with notes of lemon balm, juicy Golden Delicious apple, and crushed rock.
Try pairing this Chardonnay with Petrale sole garnished with a corn relish or soft Camembert cheese.
