A medium intense nose of dark fruits, blackberries, some floral notes and a hint of spicy oak in the background. A light to medium rich body with a fine structure and balance.
Pairs well with game dishes, roast pheasant or rich game stews. Slightly chilled, it is equally good in summer with picnics and barbecues.
James Suckling 93 - This is one of the most beautiful Insoglios I have tasted with lots of blue fruit, such as blueberries, as well as violets. Medium body and firm, silky tannins. Very fine and linear. Syrah, cabernet franc, cabernet sauvignon, merlot, and petit verdot.
Wine Advocate 91 - Winemaker Helena Lindberg tells me that this bottle was hand filled straight from the tank. The wine was bottled on the same day my samples were sent to avoid bottle shock. The 2018 Insoglio del Cinghiale is beautifully open and prominent with spicy notes of clove and spice that introduce lasting notes of black fruit, plum and smoke.
