Princeofpinot.com 94 - Vineyard owned by Zac and Krista Robinson, whose family also owns Husch Vineyards. Harvest Brix 26.5º. A mix of 115 and 667 and Pommard clones harvested from this fog-bound, deep end site. Fermented whole berry with native yeasts and aged 16 months in French oak barrels, 33% new. · Moderate garnet color in the glass. Enticing aromas of cherry, cranberry, wilted rose and pipe smoke. Flat-out great on the palate with a delicious core of black cherry fruit. Elegantly composed and satiny in texture, with modest tannins and a sleek, polished demeanor. The oak lends a helping but not intrusive hand. This wine simply stands out immediately upon tasting and continues its peacock tail finish when tasted over a two day period.
Wine Enthusiast 93 - Warm spicy wintertime scents like cinnamon, clove and nutmeg meet baked fruit flavors and a broad soothing texture in this full-bodied wine. The color has an amber tint at the rim, the texture is absolutely mouth-filling but gentle, and the finish lingers nicely. The husband-wife winemaking duo let native yeast ferment the wine, and then aged it in 33% new French barrels from Remond.
True vintage after vintage, the pale garnet color of Nash Mill is deceptive with regard to the wine’s power. The nose has laser precision in its aromas of blackberry and black currant and is layered with spice aromas of anise, clove and a hint of bay leaf. On the palate, blackberry and black plum are supported by the generous body of the wine and zingy acidity. The textured finish offers continuity of the fruit and spice as well as plush tannins and notes of cedar. This is the biggest wine in the lineup and would pair well with bolder fare such as prime rib. Enjoy this wine now and over the next 3-5 years. Only 70 cases produced.
