Whistle Pig Piggyback Rye
Possessing a bottle of most every Whistle Pig release (batched 10 yr, 12-yr, 15-yr, Farm Stock year 2, and Boss Hog Independent and Black Prince) along with some Single Barrel selections of 10-yr bottled at Cask Strength, I think I can provide an experienced review of WP Piggyback. I was drawn to the bottle because of the lower price point and the idea of using it in an Old Fashioned or Manhattan. I am totally impressed with it...classic Rye flavor, proofed just right (not underproofed like Farm Stock or batched 10-yr, and obviously great value. I’ve only had a couple of pours neat and it stands up to any Rye out there under $100 (Willet, Pikesville, Michter’s Cask Strength) and I’m sure it will make a great cocktail (at a price that won’t make you cringe when you mix it).
